SUSPENDED ANIMATION – 2010
Suspended Animation was exhibited at the New Living Artists show in IMOCA the show was curated by Claire Feeley.
Suspended Animation takes its form from the MAC waiting symbol, colloquially known as the Spinning Pinwheel of Death. Suspended Animation is concerned with the increasing consumption of the spiritual and the real by the virtual.
The exhibition displayed the physical kinetic work installed at eye level. Suspended Animation draws parallels between the computer symbol and the symbol of a Mandala or meditative aid.
The adjacent video work depicts the installation of the rotating symbol on a temporary timber scaffold at various desolate sites on the outskirts of Dublin.
