The Good Hatchery (Ruth E Lyons and Carl Giffney) were given a month long residency in Aras Eanna Arts Centre on Inis Oírr prior to the exhibition.
The installation Crystal Spring/ Monarú Earraí is a combination of two separate works that were made artists during their stays on the island. From their islanded position each took water as a starting point for the work produced.
Crystal Spring (colour prints on acetate) is a meditation on water.
For almost a year now there has been no drinking water on the island. As a result of the sea infiltrating the fresh water system, daily shipments of bottled water must be delivered to the island from the mainland.
